Do You Protect What you Love?

Zookeeper Chad

What do I love?
Family and my
Friends, my cat,
Trees, dancing,
1on1 conversations,
Writing, walking,
Watching the sky,
Feet in the dirt
And sometimes someone
for no good reason.

Does God love or
Is God’s love
expressing through
every living thing,
the earth, the cosmos…
Is God expressing
love through me?

Does God protect what God loves?

I like Zookeeper Chad*. He is trying to show us the wonderful animals he works with so we can love them. Then, if we love them, he hopes we will work to protect them. To me that means stop doing them harm, e.g., stop taking away their natural habitats, stop hunting them for sport or profit, watch what we buy/support, supporting them through our policies and laws.

We are conscious human beings who create our lives through our thinking, emotions, beliefs and choices. We were created with free will for a reason. We grow through experiencing life and through understanding the consequences of our thinking, our beliefs, and choices. Being protected against our own ignorance, selfishness, self-hatred, doesn’t lead to our growth. Being loved through it all does. God loves us.

  1. Amen!

  2. Amen, AND yes (AKA amen)

I still don’t understand what the sentence God love us means. I’ve been not understanding it since I admitted I didn’t understand it, sometime around 2nd grade. I could parrot back my catechism lessons, my first communion lessons, my confirmation lessons…but they didn’t matter to me. I may have become agnostic through the years, I simply do not know if God exists in the first place. The God belief system seems as varied and wide and vague as our belief in Santa Claus. Eventually, doesn’t everyone figure out Santa is your parents?

I taught my son as a small child that everyone is being Santa when they give from their hearts. Enlightenment /becoming aware of truth and acting out of compassion as a result means love to me. God is love. When a human is aware and accepting of the truth then acts with compassion Gods love can flow through them and their actions. By centering my self within and asking what is best for me to know and do, I gain courage to chose to act my best way at the time. I’ve thrown off the brainwashing dogma of organized religion and found within my soul the shift point to connect with God and All That Is. I’ve spent my entire life searching for truth. It lies within each of us to know while we are peaceful and listen to the still small intuitive voice. Courage to be still, ask and listen ,then act and receive the joy of being loving and true to your Soul .

  5. Yes, “Being protected against our own ignorance, selfishness, self-hatred, doesn’t lead to our growth. Being loved through it all does. God loves us.”

I like that someone asked the question, what it means , “God loves us.” I have questioned that most of my life, spent past 30-ish years being actively curious and looking for answers. I was looking for the person or thing that could explain it once and for all. I came to believe that looking for someone else’s understanding was getting in the way. I’m at a place where I feel God, still have a hard time saying I believe in God. The belief part is a misdirect.
