Good for data transfer
“I’m here at the back table”
“Running 10 min. late”
“What was the address again”

Or for “I’m thinking of you”
“Good Morning”
“You’re in my prayers”

But not for conversation.
There’s no intimacy,
you can multitask.

If you want to talk
I want your full attention
Your heart not just thoughts

I’m greedy about what
I want from my friends, and
I’m rich because they give it.

  1. Lee Ann Austin says

I feed off the energy of the human voice and the face that speaks with it. My heart soars when I feel connected. Intimacy is a need not a want. The phones have robbed all of us of that humanity. I call the phone drunks addicts who cannot put down their pipe and smell the roses, whether they are driving, shopping, dining with their own children or simply sitting at a college graduation, sporting event, movie theatre or concert hall. Addiction is a powerful thing and difficult to tackle once the majority of the society has embedded themselves into the habit. “connected” turns out to be disconnected.

Got sit down and look my dogs in the eyes. Now that is intimacy. They are looking back.

  2. Love the lines ‘I’m greedy … I’m rich….’

    Thank you.
