Loving what we are…

There a spectacular music piece, released in 1985 as a fundraiser for the the relief of famine and disease in Africa and specifically for the famine in Ethiopia. It’s resurfacing again, the message I think is that we are in this together.earth

“We are the world
We are the children
We are The Ones who make a brighter day
So let’s start giving”

We are the World (Click to hear the original)

So, why do I feel sad when I listen to it?

Love…i want it
warm fuzzy
make me feel good

Loving…what is it?
seeing your beauty
knowing your goodness

Love…being
accepted just as I am
knowing you care

Loving you
with all your worts
with all your gifts

How far can I love?
How great a difference
can my love hold?heartworld

Families don’t always
love each other.
We are the world, but….

Is there time to learn?
God so loved the world,
can we?

In my many years of serving others in my social work career, I learned how to love. I learned that if I looked the other in their eyes and spoke to them with curiosity and respect earnestly, they received my concern for them. I learned that love is action following a choice to act. The most readily received love is in the form of unmet needs being met without expectation or obligation or judgement. True love is difficult to maintain due to the ego of each person. I learned that deep love can happen instantaneously and occurs most easily when the person giving the love is unattached to the outcome while very in touch with both hearts involved. Love is felt and it changes things. Most people fear to love because they fear losing themselves via fusion or getting used and abandoned. BE-ing in the state of love is magnificent and energizing. I love God. God is love. God loves me. I love me and thee.
